DICE-Agriculture and Food Science 2019

Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture (MNSUA) Multan, Pakistan

Innovation is lifeblood of any nation and economy and is a key ingredient behind its sustainable progress and prosperity. DICE (Distinguished Innovations, Collaboration and Entrepreneurship) is a strategic initiative of DICE Foundation USA aimed at fostering innovation and entrepreneurship culture. DICE in Pakistan is being fully supported by all major stakeholders – academia, industry, government, expatriates and international NGOs, since 2007

All Pakistan DICE-Agriculture and Food Science (DICE-AFS) 2019 was held on 9th-10th October, 2019 at Muhammad Nawaz Sharif University of Agriculture Multan. There were 34 universities from public and private sectors who participated in the event with a total of 103 stalls/projects. The stalls consisted of products ranging from food to mechanical and electrical projects.

Students from BSNS 5th and 7th Semester Department of Clinical Nutrition NUR International University participated in the competition. Irfa Shah, Saleha Noor and Zoya Khalid of BSNS (7th Semester) scored fifth position among 34 competing universities. Their project was Iron rich food products under the brand name of Fe’Rich. The event was graced by Dr. Khurshid Qureshi Chairman & Founder, DICE Foundation, USA; Dr Muhammad Akhtar Malik Minister of Energy Punjab; Prof Dr Asif Ali Vice Chancellor MNSUA Multan along with dignitaries including industry personnel, professors, students, staff and people from different walks of life. The distinguished guests distributed certificates and prizes among the students and appreciated the students of Department of Clinical Nutrition NUR International University for presenting innovative ideas.

Debating Club

Participation of Debating Club in Declamation Contest organized by Nazaria-e-Pakistan Trust to commemorate Quaid-e-Azam Day

 

 As part of Quaid-e-Azam Day Celebrations a Declamation Contest was organized by Nazaria-e-Pakistan trust on 19th September, 2019. Participants from various universities and colleges of Lahore participated in the event. Ms Areeba Arif from NIU’s debating club won second position in the contest. Her declamation was greatly appreciated by all the judges.

Nutrition Camp

On September 19, 2019 a Nutrition Camp was arranged in supervision of Miss Safeena Amjad at Al-Huda Welfare School, Alhamd colony branch. Semester 7 of BS Nutritional Sciences participated in this camp. Students of NIU did nutritional assessment of students there, delivered some lecture on healthy and clean eating as well as distributed some goodies.
We appreciate all our students involve in such activities and encourage them all to contribute in building a better community.
