Model Display on the theme of “Brain and Behavior” by Students of Applied Psychology Department

The students of Department of Applied Psychology at NIU displayed models on the theme of “Brain and Behavior” on Wednesday 18th April, 2018. The students creatively used various materials such as clay, styrofoam, card, paper, cotton, lights etc to display the structure and function of various parts of the brain including the sense organs. The students also elaborated the mechanism of each model to the audience.

Workshop at NIU on the Topic of “Time Management”

The Applied Psychology Department at NIU arranged a workshop for the students of NIU on the topic of “Time Management”. The workshop was held on 18th April, 2018, Dr Ayesha Sarfaraz conducted the workshop. She initiated the workshop by asking the participants to identify the problems they faced when managing the time between university, personal/family and social life. Dr Ayesha elaborated that when time is not managed effectively it leads to stress as failure to plan is basically planning to fail. Effective time management strategies were discussed and elaborated in the workshop with the help of practical exercises. The participants greatly enjoyed the workshop and thanked the presenter for providing useful time management tips.

Workshop at NIU on the Topic of “Stress Management”

The Applied Psychology Department at NIU arranged a workshop for faculty members of NIU on the topic of “Stress Management”. The workshop was held on 17th April, 2018. Dr Imran Ijaz Haider and Dr Ayesha Sarfaraz conducted the workshop. Dr Imran initiated the workshop by asking the participants to identify the stressors faced by them in their everyday life and the consequences they face as a result of those stressors. Dr Ayesha elaborated in detail what stress is and how it effects our body and mind. Dr Imran and Dr Ayesha discussed several stress management techniques with the participants and their application in our everyday life with the help of various hands on practical exercises. The participants greatly enjoyed the stress management activities and thanked the presenters.

CPEC Related Opportunities for Students

Office of ORIC, Nur International University in collaboration with Pak China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI) held a student information session on the topic, “CPEC Related Opportunities for Students.” both in China and Pakistan. Through the session, students were informed about the career and business opportunities arising due to CPEC and how the students can make use of such opportunities.

Mr. WANG ZIHAI, Chairman PCJCCI and Managing Director Plum Qingqi Motors Ltd was the keynote speaker at the event. He appraised the students about various industrial sectors that will be experiencing growth and development and, therefore, will be demanding major human resource requirements. Many Chinese companies will be coming to Pakistan for joint ventures and businesses. He encouraged the students to excel in their studies and gear themselves up to help their country make use of the upcoming opportunities.

Mr. Sallaudin Hanif, Secretary PCJCCI, also spoke at the session and informed the students how recent graduates are engaged with companies working on the CPEC projects. He appraised the audience about the progress Pakistan is making on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The interactive session concluded with a thank you note from Prof. Dr. Rakhshanda Rehman, Vice Chancellor, Nur International University where she emphasized on more collaborations with PCJCCI.
