  1. Provides an in-depth study of Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics through cutting-edge coursework and an advanced Clinical Nutrition, Food & Nutrition & Community Nutrition practice residency to prepare graduates to assume the role of an advanced-level of Food, Nutrition & dietetics practitioner.
  2. Prepares graduates to be able to design, conduct, and analyze clinical outcomes research in the diverse area.
  3. To apply an interdisciplinary approach to understand the cultural and economic aspects of Food and Nutrition System.
  4. The program will prepare students to provide evidence-based preventative nutrition services to Community groups to improve their Nutritional Status.

  1. MS in Food, Nutrition & Dietetics (With Research Track)

Master of Food, Nutrition & Dietetics will be awarded after completion of two years with 36 credit hours. However, after one-year coursework (18 Credit Hours), the student adopt research track to write MS level thesis that consists of 6 credit hours which will require one year for completion with four elective courses of 12 credit hours.

The student will write research thesis on a topic of their choice in collaboration with their assigned supervisors. The research thesis will be of 6 credit hours which will require one year and maximum two years to complete MS in Food, Nutrition & Dietetics.

Thus the MS in Food, Nutrition & Dietetics degree will be awarded on completion of 36 credit hours in total & CPGA 2.50.

  1. Basic Requirements for Admission in MS Food, Nutrition & Dietetics Program

 

  1. Sixteen years of education with major in Food, Nutrition & Dietetics. Must have first division at master level CGPA = 2.5
  2. GAT/GRE/ Deptt. Entry test (Nutrition. Deptt. NUR International University) will be required for admission.

A Departmental Graduate Program Committee (DGPC) will be proposed by the Head of the Department(s) and approved by the Dean, which will handle day to day matters relating to the program. It will consist of at least three faculty members of the relevant Department; headed by the head of Department. Co-op members may be invited if such need arises. The Departmental Graduate Program Committee will recommend students for admission, transfer of credits and migration cases to the Dean of the faculty. The DGPC will be authorized to recommend eligible students for admission. Dean will approve students for admission, on the recommendation of the DGPC. The chairman of the DGPC will be nominated by the Dean.

  1. c) Selection Criteria

An applicant shall be judged by the following criterion for admission:-

Written test, i.e. GAT/GRE/ Deptt. Test.

Interview

  • The candidate must obtain passing marks in the written test and Interview, as per the decision of the DGPC. The DGPC will assign weightage to the above-proposed criteria.
  • In each semester, the student must maintain a minimum of CGPA= 2.5 (out of 4.0). However, a student will be put on probation for one semester, if he/she is having a CGPA in between 2.00 and 2.5.
  • The student will be a full-time student during the first year of MS studies and may not take any full-time job during this period. MS degree will only be awarded to the students having CGPA= 2.5 or better (out of 4.0).
  • MS thesis will be evaluated by an external expert and it has to be defended before a committee. The committee will consist of Head of the Department and External Examiner.
  • All other rules and regulations will apply as per university rules.
