Bachelor in Biochemistry program at NIU is designed to offer comprehensive learning of chemical processes within and related to living organisms. Our curriculum stretches to the frontiers of contemporary developments in the study of chemical reactions, functions, structure and synthesis of biological molecules. Since biochemistry has become an integral part of modern science, hence, BS in Biochemistry is a door to many career opportunities in Pakistan. Our program takes a research and informatics centric approach to provide greater understanding and knowledge. Students will develop skills in practical laboratory techniques, data interpretation, critical analysis, computational skills allied to biochemistry and scientific writing. Bachelors in Biotechnology program at NIU offers students an understanding of theoretical and practical knowledge about the integration of biological and technological processes. The rise of modern technology has made possible maneuvering of biological processes towards productive ends in a wide array of areas. The importance of Biotechnology in Pakistan is further enhanced by contemporary challenges posed by problems such as rising food requirements of an ever increasing population and the pharmaceutical demands due to growing complexities of biological disorders, etc. Our curriculum consists of cutting edge topics in health, industrial, agriculture and pharmaceutical biotechnology. We particularly focus on developing practical skills, through rigorous training in lab settings that train our graduates for the job markets. The graduates of our programs will be able to assess underlying biological processes whether related to disease, drug or food and make use of medical technology to manipulate them to serve such ends which are beneficial for humanity. The graduates of our program are likely to get job offers at agricultural and industrial research institutes, pharmaceutical companies, academic institutes and the industrial sector.

Our curriculum of BS Biochemistry or Biotechnology is designed at the cutting edge and also prepares our students to be eligible for advance studies in these fields across the globe. This flexible degree program offers the opportunity to specialize either in Biochemistry or in Biotechnology. In the first two years, the students take general and common theoretical courses. Emphasis is placed on practical training and developing transferable skills that will be valuable in a wide range of professional settings.
